Paste Special Options

Sometimes, the data makes more sense if it goes the other way: where the rows trade places with the columns.

Paste Special: Transpose the Data

Consider the monthly rainfall data illustrated on this page. The labels in Row 1 include April through November.

What Do You See? When you go to Paste Special ->Transpose, the rows change places with the columns. Now the labels for the months are in Column A.

If you copy any equations in the original data, Microsoft Excel will adjust the formulas and cell references when you transpose the data. Nice.

Home->Paste ->Paste Special ->Transpose

Quick Click: There is another way to transpose the data when you copy and paste: Go to Paste->Transpose.
