Excel: Work Smarter
Filters allow you to focus on part of the data.
They separate the wheat from the weeds. Filters do not add up any totals or calculate profits.
Subtotals are better if you want some numbers.
There is a two-step process for making a Subtotal: Sort the data
first, then do the Subtotal.
Try it: Sort the Data
Make another copy of the Original Data worksheet and
rename it 2007 Sales Subtotal.
Select the entire spreadsheet
Go
to Data-> Sort
Sort by the Category Data ->
