Text or Memo Fields

What is the difference between the Text and Memo Fields? Memos support Rich Text. That means users can format the text big, bold and blue to emphasize their written concerns.

Use a Memo field wherever users will enter feedback or comments. Use a Text field in tables that users may never edit.

Test the Rental Table

Switch to the Datasheet View and add the rental prices.

Try it: Add Sample Data

Type the following information:

$4.50, 1-Day rental

$3.50, 3-Day rental

$2.50, 5-Day rental

What do you see? When you entered the prices, did the table format the numbers as currency?
