Link to Other Sources

Earlier in this Computer Guide, you learned how to split a database and link the tables. Microsoft Access can link to a spreadsheet, too.

Try it: Link to a spreadsheet

Go to External Data->Import->Excel.

Select: Link to the data source

What do you see in the Tables?

Try it: Link to a folder in Outlook

Go to External Data->More

Select Microsoft Outlook

You can choose an Exchange Server or Personal folder.

Select a folder: Contacts

Memo to self: This is a dynamic, live link. If you add a Contact to Outlook, then it will be added to Access.

If you delete a Contact in Access, then it will be deleted from Outlook, too.
