Insert Shapes

A Shape is a Textbox with custom formatting. Microsoft PowerPoint uses Textboxes for the headlines and bullet lists on each slide.

Microsoft Word uses Textboxes to put the Mail Merge fields in the right place for a bar code machine to read the envelope correctly.

1. Insert Illustrations

Go to the Insert Ribbon.

Go to the Shapes menu.

Choose a Shape.

Hold you cursor on a blank place in your document and drag a small square. You should see a shape that you can select, format and resize.
