Adding Data in a Spreadsheet

This time sheet is a fast and effective way to record your hours. Suppose you work for the same Accounts every week. What if you could just choose the Account from a list? Choosing the answer from a list has two benefits: the data entry is faster, and it is spelled correctly.

Data Validation restricts what goes into a cell. For example, suppose a spreadsheet had a column
for the Date.

If you use Data Validation, Excel would compare what the user types and alert the user if they typed in something wrong, like a price instead of a date.

Data Validation can also create a simple drop down List.

This screen shot is an example of the drop down combo box you will create in the next pages with Data Validation.
