Tools -> Send and Receive Send/Receive Groups Each group can be edited for how it behaves online or offline. This is also where you can edit how often Outlook retrieves new E-mail.   Say this E-mail account is on your laptop and you are not logged into your company Exchange Server. You do not have to include this account in the send/receive group of schedule an automatic send/receive every 15 minutes. In the early days of E-mail, the Computer Mama only had two contacts in Microsoft Mail, the Grand Daddy of Outlook. I got E-mail from my partner, Paul, and from Microsoft. Let me count them again: Paul, and Microsoft.   The E-mail was set to check every 5 minutes: that's a bit hyperactive for only two contacts!
