Connections, Connections, Connections

Nine times out of ten the problem is connections, connections, connections. The solution? Restore the connection.

Try it: If you have permission, unplug the network cable from your computer and watch for the alert messages.

Look on the back of your computer for the Network card. Usually the Network Interface Card (NIC) has a light to indicate if the cable is properly connected. Is there a light on? No light, then nobody’s home.

Plug the cable back in and confirm whether you have a light. That light is the signal that you have a good connection. What do you see in the Network?

Many, many support calls come on the day after the office has been cleaned. Somehow, the computer was bumped. The cable may look like it is connected, but it isn’t seated well.

Network Cables are bigger than phone wires. Where does the cable plug in? Look on the back of your computer. The network card is probably built into the motherboard.
